Time to reflect back on everything that I have achieved in 2015 and look forward to wht’s to come in 2016. 2015 has been an incredible year for me, there have been many highs and thankfully very few lows.
My Reflections
- Losing a job
Back in March 2015 I got fired from a job I hated working for a manager I hated even more. Getting fired turned out to be the best catalyst that started a number of positive changes this year, like setting a firm date to move to Canada and putting the wheels in motion to create a life here.
2. Starting a blog
Starting this blog has been a huge step into the unknown for me. When I lost my job I started looking at alternative ways to earn money and different things I could do. Since April 2015 I have been learning about marketing, specifically affiliate marketing. Although I still have not had much opportunity to do this, starting this blog was the first hurdle.
When I launched the blog in August I had no idea how successful it would be. Through the blog I have gained followers in 5 continents, I have made friends with people who contacted me through the blog, and I have had over 2500 website hits. This is better than I could have imagined and I am so grateful for all the support I have received from everyone. I can’t wait to see what happens in 2016.
3. Moving to Canada
One of the biggest changes in my life this year has been moving to Canada. There were plenty of people who thought I was insane but I still made the move. I risked an awful lot moving out here especially my relationship but I am the luckiest man to have such a supportive and wonderful girlfriend who, despite her reservations, has supported me in my move.
Since moving here I have met so many wonderful people and made some friends for life. I have a great support network here and feel completely settled into my Canadian life. I have also found a job and have recently passed my training. I have plenty still to learn and each day brings new challenges but I am sure I will succeed.
4. Friends
Friends have played a huge part in my life this year. I have made incredible new friends, seen friends make their dreams come true and supported friends through highs and lows. For me friends are one of lifes important things and as the saying goes, friends are the family you can choose. I am extremely grateful for the friends I have and look forward to meeting the new ones I will make in the future.
5. Weight loss
This year has also been a big change for me in body composition and fitness. I am still a good way off my target weight and fitness level but I am finishing the year 13kg (28.7lb) lighter than I was back in April 2015. It not only feels like a great weight lifted off my shoulders, literally, but I feel happier and healthier than I have for years. I now have a new lust for life and look forward to seeing what 2016 brings in terms of fitness and health improvements.
Goals for 2016
- Continue losing weight and increasing fitness
- Increase the profile of my blog and monetise it to build residual income
- Get promoted
- Start applying for my Canadian Permanent Residence status
- Try skiing
Overall I could not have asked for a better 2015. I feel very content with where I am in life and I look forward to what the future brings. I hope all of you have a fantastic 2016 and look forward to keeping you updated with what happening in my life through my blog.
