Quebec Trip Continued
After spending the first 4 days in Montreal we moved on to Montmorency Falls which is 8km outside Quebec City.
We stayed in a wonderful B&B called Gîte Le Royal Champêtre B&B run by Bridgette. She is such a wonderful host, full of knowledge and so welcoming. Breakfast is a 3-course homemade breakfast and the bedrooms are very comfortable with en-suites and individually decorated.
The B&B is about a 30 minute walk from Montmorency Falls along sidewalks. When we were there the Falls were lit up at night in pink for Breast Cancer awareness. My brother, his girlfriend and I walked to the Falls in the evening and then the following day we all went back and took the gondola up from the bottom of the Falls.
In the evening we went to Les Ancêtres Auberge & Restaurant, 1101 Chemin Royal, Saint-Pierre, QC G0A 4E0 for dinner which was amazing. It is on Île d’Orléans which is well worth a visit. The island only has 1 bridge to get on and off and the St. Lawrence River freezes on the waterfall side so people access the island via snowmobile in the winter.
There’s some great architecture on the island including tin roofed houses which are synonymous to Quebec. You also have to get some jams and preserves from the farm shop.
